Usman Nurmagomedov Defends Lightweight Title Against Alexander Shabliy At Pechanga Arena San Diego On Sept. 7

This September, Bellator has decided that the only thing better than one week of fist-flying, cage-shaking action is two weeks of it. Because, obviously, what the world needs is more grown men and women beating each other up for shiny belts in different cities.

First up, on September 7th in sunny San Diego, Usman Nurmagomedov will try to continue pretending no one can touch him in the lightweight division. He’s set to face Alexander Shabliy, a guy who apparently forgot how to lose eight years ago. Nurmagomedov, still riding high with a pristine record and probably a photo of Khabib on his nightstand, will put his 155-pound title on the line. This fight was supposed to happen in Paris, but hey, San Diego needs some love too, right?

Then, as if that’s not enough, we head across the pond to London on September 14th for the sequel nobody asked for but everyone will watch. Johnny Eblen and Fabian Edwards are going to dance again in the middleweight world championship. Remember last time when Eblen handed Edwards a loss in Dublin? Well, Edwards has been stewing on that and now he’s back for more, presumably hoping the hometown crowd can help him remember how to win this time.

Peter Murray, CEO of PFL, couldn’t help but hype up the spectacle: “September is set to be a huge month for Bellator Champions Series, and we’re continuing to step up our game.” Translation: Get ready for more blood, sweat, and tears, served up with a side of cage-side drama.

Both epic showdowns will be available for your viewing pleasure in the U.S. on Max and exclusively in the U.K. on DAZN, because nothing says global sports like geo-restricted viewing options.
