Stevie Ray Headlines PFL’s Scottish Debut at the OVO Hydro

the Professional Fighters League (PFL) is gracing Scotland with its presence. On September 28, brace yourselves as Scottish MMA legend Stevie “Braveheart” Ray takes center stage at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow. Tickets go on sale Thursday, June 6, from 5am EST on Ticketmaster. Set your alarms, folks.

In what promises to be the most thrilling event since… well, the last thrilling event, Stevie Ray will clash with Wales’ Lewis “The Captain” Long in a welterweight fight. Ray’s back in Scotland for the first time since 2017, probably because he ran out of places to conquer. Meanwhile, Robert “The Hammer” Whiteford will face Roger “El Matador” Huerta in a 150-pound contract weight bout. Expect more Scottish fighters to be announced soon. Can’t have too much tartan in one night, right?

Can you feel the excitement? Grab your tickets to watch Europe’s biggest MMA fighters duke it out in the PFL Europe playoffs. They’re all on a “Win & Advance” mission to the finals in Lyon this December for a chance to pocket $100,000 and the PFL Europe Championship. If they lose? Well, it’s back to the drawing board.

Dan Hardy, PFL Europe’s Head of Fighter Operations, had this to say: “We’re bringing an MMA spectacle to Glasgow this September. The city’s brimming with talent, and we’re filling the card with Europe’s finest, especially Scotland’s future MMA stars.” Thanks, Dan, we had no idea Glasgow had talent until now.

He added, “The PFL Europe ‘Path to Global’ is one of the toughest challenges in combat sports. Athletes compete in three fights a year to win the championship, the prize money, and a spot in PFL’s global league.” Sounds grueling. Hope they packed a lunch.

The 2024 PFL Europe Season kicked off in Paris with a sold-out show, then moved to Newcastle Upon-Tyne, and now it’s Glasgow’s turn. The season will wrap up with the Championship event in Lyon, France, on December 14. Riveting stuff.

PFL isn’t just another MMA organization. They have a Regular Season, Playoffs, and Championship each year. With 30% of PFL and Bellator fighters ranked in the top 25 worldwide, PFL is building the “Champions League of MMA.” They’re also leading in technology with the PFL SmartCage, offering fight analytics, real-time betting, AI scoring, and a next-gen viewing experience. Catch all the action on ESPN/ESPN+ in the U.S., DAZN in Canada and Europe, and broadcasts in 160 countries with 20 premium media distribution partners.
