Roman Kryklia Stops Alex Roberts to Win Inaugural ONE Heavyweight Muay Thai World Title

ONE Championship™ (ONE) orchestrated a night of thrilling knockouts in the U.S. during prime time with ONE Fight Night 17: Kryklia vs. Roberts. This was the organization’s first event dedicated entirely to Muay Thai fights.

In a collaborative effort with TUMI, a brand synonymous with luxury and high performance, ONE Championship bestowed the coveted ONE World Title belt to the World Champions.

The headliner saw Roman Kryklia, the reigning ONE Light Heavyweight Kickboxing World Champion, snatch the inaugural ONE Heavyweight Muay Thai World Title. Kryklia achieved this with a second-round knockout of Alex Roberts.

Kryklia, the Ukrainian powerhouse, quickly established his dominance in the opening round, flooring Roberts with a formidable right straight.

Despite Roberts’ remarkable resilience, he couldn’t brace for Kryklia’s onslaught in the second round. Kryklia systematically closed in, unleashing a right hand and then downing Roberts with a sharp left hook.

Once Roberts was grounded, referee Justin Brown promptly ended the fight, recognizing Roberts’ inability to continue. This victory not only made Kryklia a two-sport ONE World Champion but also earned him a US$50,000 bonus.

The co-main event featured “Smokin’” Jo Nattawut and Luke Lessei in a captivating three-round featherweight Muay Thai bout.

Both fighters came out swinging in the first round, displaying their high-caliber offense. The intensity escalated in the second round, with both delivering powerful kicks and punches. Nattawut, ranked #4 in featherweight Muay Thai, began to dominate with higher output and impactful strikes.

The final round saw a spike in aggression from both competitors, with a barrage of fierce attacks from all angles. Ultimately, Nattawut clinched a well-deserved victory via unanimous decision.
