One 156: Eersel Vs. Sadikovic Faceoff Interviews

ONE Championship™ (ONE) athletes competing this Friday at ONE 156: Eersel vs. Sadikovic answered questions in a series of interviews ahead of their highly anticipated matchups. Check out the full interviews down below.

ONE 156 broadcasts live from the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Friday, 22 April.

Regian Eersel:

“For me it feels normal [to be at the top]. It’s been 6 years that I’ve been unbeaten. It feels good, I enjoy it.”

“From my side, on Friday in the cage there will be no respect. It will be a fight. We’ll see on Friday.”

Arian Sadikovic:

“I was very happy to [be offered a fight with Eersel]. I thought at first I’d have to fight [Nieky] Holzken, because he was the number one contender. But even better, now it’s even better. This is a very good opportunity for me.”

Jackie Buntan:

“I’m more than prepared for this fight. Quote-on-quote ‘fight camp,’ we’re probably in a more than two-month-long fight camp. But it’s really 13-years in the making, ever since I started training as a little girl.”

“Smilla [Sundell] has a good style, she has the classic Thai style, the Fairtex style. The only thing that stands out is her forward pressure, she’s an aggressive fighter… I think [it will be a] disadvantage for her.”

“Honestly, I think both of us [are under a lot of pressure]. It’s a big deal, it’s the inaugural title. I think we’d both be lying if we said we didn’t feel the pressure.”

Jarred Brooks:

“I’m ready for whatever you bring to me, man. At the end of the day, this is a kill or be killed sport, and I’m definitely ready to kill.”

“I’ve been wrestling my whole life, I have the best wrestling in ONE right now. If you try to take my back—anything like that—I’m going to come out guns blazing. It doesn’t matter… My intentions are very, very hard intentions towards Bokang. I can sit here and act friendly, but inside I’m ready to go.”

“I am the best strawweight in the world and nobody’s going to take that away from me. Not Bokang, not Joshua [Pacio], not anybody in the top five… I’ve paid my dues in this division, I’ve fought twice in the last six months and I’m still ready. I still smell blood. I’m coming to grab the title.”

Bokang Masunyane:

“This is bigger than myself. I’m fighting for Africa, I’m fighting for a lot of fighters in Africa to be recognized. That’s the pressure I feel behind me, my family and friends… I’d like to be the first World Champion coming out of Africa, born and raised in Africa, it’s that time.”
