Claressa Shields set for February 24 MMA return in Saudi Arabia, Live on DAZN

The Professional Fighters League (PFL) and the General Entertainment Authority (GEA) are gearing up for an earth-shattering pay-per-view event – PFL Champions vs. Bellator Champions – at the state-of-the-art Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on a Saturday that won’t be forgotten: February 24. This historic clash of titans features four head-turning co-main events, pitting reigning PFL champions against current Bellator champions, and that’s just for starters.

Additionally, we’re treated to two sizzling match-ups between former PFL and Bellator title contenders, making this a bonanza of elite-level combat.

This first-ever PFL PPV Super Fight event is a buffet of seven matchups, showcasing a mix of current and former champs and challengers from PFL and Bellator. And guess what? It’s going global (excluding the USA) on DAZN starting at 8 pm GMT.

The combat sports landscape is never the same again. With PFL’s acquisition of Bellator, the fight game is about to witness a seismic shift on Feb. 24. Two MMA powerhouses are descending upon Saudi Arabia, each aiming to claim the ultimate bragging rights. And it’s not just about the fights – newly minted Super Fight Championship belts are up for grabs, signaling a new era for PFL and Bellator in this winner-takes-all, elbow-throwing, three-round super fight extravaganza.

In a heavyweight main event that’ll have seismic implications, PFL’s Renan Ferreira (12-3), hot off his second-round TKO win in the 2023 PFL Championship, faces Bellator’s first-ever dual-division champion, Ryan Bader (31-7).

The light heavyweight scene is also heating up. PFL’s new champ, Impa Kasanganay (15-3), drops back to 185-pounds to throw down with Johnny Eblen (14-0), the undefeated middleweight sensation many consider the best in the world.

Magomed Magomedkerimov (34-6) of PFL, riding a six-fight unbeaten wave, is all set to clash with Bellator’s welterweight king Jason Jackson (17-4), the man who recently snapped the longest winning streak in MMA (27 fights).

At featherweight, Peru’s pride Jesus Pinedo (23-6-1), fresh off his 2023 PFL Championship, faces one of Bellator’s most accomplished fighters, Patricio Pitbull (35-7), the reigning Featherweight Champion and former Lightweight Champion.

Former heavyweight champ Bruno Cappelozza (15-6) welcomes ex-Bellator Light Heavyweight champ Vadim Nemkov (17-2) to the heavyweight division. And in a clash of heavy-handed ex-number one contenders, Brazil’s Thiago Santos (22-11) faces former Olympian Yoel Romero (15-7) at 205-pounds.

Lightweights are also in for a treat as the always electrifying Clay Collard (24-11) goes toe-to-toe with former Bellator Featherweight Champion AJ McKee (21-1) in a striker’s paradise showdown.

The preliminary card isn’t short on thrills either. Top PFL featherweight contender Gabriel Braga (12-1) meets Bellator’s Aaron Pico (12-4), while Biaggio Ali Walsh, Muhammad Ali’s grandson, debuts at 155-pounds. And don’t miss the return of Claressa Shields, the world’s greatest female boxer, to the PFL SmartCage.

His Excellency Turki Alalshikh, Chairman of the GEA, couldn’t hide his excitement: “Riyadh Season is setting the bar high with PFL Champions vs Champions. It’s an honor to host this groundbreaking event, promising some of the most exhilarating matchups in combat sports history.”

Peter Murray, PFL CEO, echoed this sentiment: “The Middle East is now the epicenter of fight sports, and PFL is thrilled to bring the crème de la crème of combat stars to Saudi Arabia. This first-ever PFL PPV Super Fight is a game-changer for fighters and fans alike, and we’re grateful to His Excellency Turki Alalshikh, the GEA, and SRJ for helping us elevate MMA in The Kingdom and globally.”

Shay Segev, CEO of DAZN Group, is all in: “Partnering with The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Riyadh Season for PFL Champions vs Champions is a thrill. The PFL’s dynamism, combined with His Excellency Turki Alalshikh’s vision, is set to make February 24 a night for the ages.
