The anticipation has reached its peak as CES MMA is on the doorstep of making its long-awaited return to Providence this weekend.

Careers, reputations, and potential big-money fights are on the line Sunday, November 7 at the Providence Career and Technical Academy as the region’s No. 1 promotion presents CES MMA 65 live on UFC FIGHT PASS®.

CES’ first event in Providence in nearly a decade begins at a special start time of 4 pm with play-by-play announcer Michael Parente (@MichaelParente) calling the action alongside color commentators Joe Lauzon (@JoeLauzon), a 27-time UFC veteran, and “Sweetbread” Dinis Paiva (@Sweetbread135), former world-title challenger and the longest-tenured fighter in CES MMA history. Tickets are available online at CESFights.com.

Headlining the event is an intriguing heavyweight showdown between Fall River, MA, native and UFC vet Yorgan De Castro and Minnesota’s Danyelle Williams; the two have combined for 14 wins and 11 knockouts in their pro careers and each enter at an important crossroad in their respective careers.

De Castro, fresh off a year-and-a-half run with the UFC, returns home to take his shot at the currently-vacant CES MMA World Heavyweight Title. At 39 years old with one year of sobriety in the books, Williams now knows he’s “where I’m supposed to be.” A win over a young up-and-comer like De Castro puts him near the top of the conversation among heavyweights gunning for championship glory.

“Everything I have done in preparation over the last year has led me to this,” Williams said. “My inititial reaction to this fight was, ‘Wow, the Yorgan De Castro.’ What an honor and opportunity for me, Danyelle ‘D-Day’ Williams to get back on track and showcase to the world what I was put here to do.”

The heavyweight main event is just the tip of the iceberg Sunday. Making his CES MMA debut, Professional Fighters League and Titan FC vet and former world champion Andre Harrison (21-2, 3 KOs) of Long Island faces Brazilian Mauro Chaulet (14-7, 5 KOs) in a special featherweight attraction.

Harrison is one of the most accomplished fighters past and present to step foot inside the CES MMA cage. Nicknamed “The Bull,” the 33-year-old Long Island native and former collegiate wrestling standout boasts 21 wins as a pro, including championships with the PFL, Titan, and Ring of Combat.

Harrison defended the Titan FC featherweight title four times, most notably defeating ex-Bellator vet Alexandre Bezerra in his final defense, and captures the PFL featherweight championship in 2017 by beating Lance Palmer. He also owns wins over two-time Brazilian Jiu Jitsu world champion Nazareno Malegarie, UFC vet Steven Siler, and former CES MMA world champion Bruce Boyington.

Sunday’s stacked lineup also features the return of Queens bantamweight Ashiek Ajim (4-1, 3 KOs), who faces Carlos Espinosa (5-4, 2 KOs) of Tampa, and hometown favorite John Douma (5-2, 2 KOs) of Providence battling bantamweight Tristan Lindi (2-2, 2 KOs) of Ohio.

Middleweight Pat McCrohan (4-3, 3 KOs) of Berkley, MA, returns from a two-year layoff against Hugh McKenna (3-4) of Long Island and lightweight Nate Ghareeb (4-1, 4 KOs) of Southampton, MA, fresh off a big knockout win at CES 64 in September, battles Haverhill, MA, vet Tom Pagliarulo (3-0, 3 KOs). Flyweight Matt Almy (4-4, 1 KO) of Binghamton, NY, faces Springfield’s Tim Flores (2-1) to round out the main card.

In preliminary action, Providence featherweight Tyrime Da Silva makes his professional debut against Josh Hardy (0-1) of Vermont, Fall River featherweight Aaron Hughes (1-1, 1 KO) faces Rakim Thorpe (0-1) of Georgia and teammate Kideby Gordon, also of Fall River, debuts against fellow newcomer Frank Pasko of Bel Air, MD, in a bantamweight bout.
