Brendan Loughnane Earns Top Seed In PFL Featherweight Playoffs

The Professional Fighters League, ever the scene-stealer, slammed the door on its 2024 Global Season with a gut-punching showcase at Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. On tap were eleven merciless fights in the Welterweight and Featherweight divisions, leaving fans roaring for more.

The main spectacle saw Brendan Loughnane, the Featherweight king from 2022, continue his brutal march towards a second title. He demolished Justin Gonzales with a knee that probably still has Gonzales seeing stars, clinching a TKO in round two. This victory crowns Loughnane as the alpha in the Featherweight pack as the playoffs loom.

The co-main throwdown had local hero Logan Storley locking horns with Moldova’s own Luca Poclit. The bout turned into a grueling wrestling clinic, with both fighters scrambling for dominance. In the end, Storley wrapped up a unanimous decision win.

Russian tank Magomed Umalatov steamrolled Brennan Ward with a first-round anaconda choke, sending Ward into retirement and punching his ticket to the playoffs. It was brutal, quick, and just another day at the office for Umalatov.

Gabriel Braga and Bubba Jenkins tore into each other in a brawl of ex-PFL finalists. Braga emerged as the last man standing, knocking Jenkins out cold in round two and snagging his playoff spot.

Lorenz Larkin, in his PFL debut, obliterated Alan Dominguez, finishing him off with a TKO before the sweat could dry in the first round. His record jumps to a menacing 26-8.

PFL CEO Peter Murray couldn’t resist hyping up the season, “The 2024 PFL Global Season has been an all-out war, with fresh meat from Bellator and PFL Europe. After six bloodbaths, it’s playoff time, and it’s do or die.”

Ray Sefo, PFL’s fight boss, chimed in, “Tonight, eight gladiators earned their stripes for the playoff battles. Bring on the postseason mayhem starting August 2.”

The carnage continued with Shamil Musaev handing Murad Ramazanov his first pro loss via a second-round TKO. Musaev remains untamed and heads into the playoffs as the Welterweight top dog.

Featherweight action kept the adrenaline high with Kai Kamaka outlasting Pedro Carvalho, bagging a unanimous decision victory, his 14th win leaving no doubts about his grit.

Goiti Yamauchi and Andrey Koreshkov squared off in a welterweight clash with Koreshkov dominating and claiming a clean unanimous decision victory.

Timur Khizriev and Enrique Barzola went toe-to-toe, with Khizriev securing a unanimous decision in a relentless Featherweight showdown.

Welterweight brawlers Don Madge and Neiman Gracie threw down in a punishing fight, with Gracie snagging the win by unanimous decision. Madge still clawed his way into the playoffs despite the loss.

Tyler Diamond, stepping up on short notice, scrapped with Brett Johns through three grueling rounds, clinching a hard-fought unanimous decision and pushing his record to 14-3.

The 2024 PFL season barrels on to the playoffs, starting with the Heavyweight and Women’s Flyweight divisions on August 2 at Nashville Municipal Auditorium. Catch the mayhem streaming live on ESPN in the U.S. and DAZN globally.
